Here the step by step how I get my Amazon Kindle 3 to Singapore, and also buying kindle books without any problem.
Step 1
Register for a ComGateway Account
I had only used ComGateway for all my USA purchased so far and have delivered promptly, mostly within 3 to 5 days.
For Borderlinx, and Vpost I had not tried before though knowing alot of people using them too without much problem. As for me I will stick to ComGateway as the rate is good with my American Express card as it had free express delivery upgrade for normal rate shipping.

Registering at Comgateway will give you a US Postal Address for you to send your products to. (obviously this step is not just limited to buying Kindle or Amazon products, it can be used to buy other stuff from other USA retailers)
After you registered at ComGateway with you USA address, go to step 2.
Step 2
Go to Amazon.com, and add the product to your shopping cart.
Right after you adding the product(s) to your shopping cart, click on checkout. You will be asked to login if you have not already done so. If you do not have an Amazon account, you can create one.
Step 3
Add the USA postal address from your ComGateway to your Amazon account and select it as the shipping address.
Then choose the shipping option . Amazon give free shipping to your USA address.
Step 4
Check your orders properly and after you have verified your details, click on “Place Your Order”
Once you have placed your order , note down your invoice number.
Step 5
Go to your Comgateway account , click on shop now green button. Enter Amazon.com and click go.
Then click start shopping next .
Step 7
Wait for your shipment to arrive at Comgateway .
Tracking from Amazon to you USA address can be done using the instructions in their email.
Once your item arrived at ComGateway, you will receive an email asking you to make payments.
NOTE: Please not that if item you purchase is over $400 SGD, you are likely to pay GST.
Step 8
After you make payments, wait for your item to arrive and is normally 3 - 4 days for my case using American Express for ComGateway .

Step 3
Purchase an Amazon Gift Cards
To purchase Amazon Kindle books without alerting Amazon, simply just purchase Gift Cards using your Singapore Credit Card and apply the Gift Card to your Account.
No issue as Gift Cards are available to anyone from any country, and you always can use gift cards to offset any purchase, in our case, Amazon Ebooks .
Step 4
Purchase Kindle Books
If you follows step 1-3 correctly , and there are available funds in your gift card you can just browse to your favorite Kindle book and buy.There is no need to use VPN or anything.
Now just go and buy the kindle books you wanted using the 1-click purchase.
Step 5
After you make your purchase . Turn on the Wireless on your kindle and get connected to your wifi.
Once it is connected to the internet through you wifi network , your book will automatically be downloaded to your kindle.
Note : The above system also works for buying of kindle in Australia , Indonesia , Thailand , New Zealand , Brunei , Malaysia , Cambodia , Myammar etc where Amazon doesnt ship to.
